Gracious Words (GW): What have been some of the activities of the recently established men’s ministry of Chinese Grace Bible Church (CGBC), Men 2 Men?
George: It has been some time now since August 30, 2014 when over ninety men from CGBC gathered together for a BBQ that focused on food and teaching from Romans 15:5-7.
5 May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, 6 so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God. (NIV)
In 2015, there were many other gatherings that focused on food, fellowship and biblical teaching from the books of Proverbs and Ecclesiastes. We also viewed an interesting video featuring the late Howard Hendricks titled A Mandate for Mentoring.
This past February, we began a video series featuring Andy Stanley and titled Four Questions to Ask When You Don’t Know What to Do. After earning a graduate degree from Dallas Theological seminary, Stanley founded North Point Community Church which has grown to six campuses and over 32,000 weekly attendees. This distinction, among others, has gained Stanley recognition as one of the ten most influential living preachers in a survey of pastors (2010).
GW: What are some plans and activities for the coming months?
George: The summer months of June, July, and August will include several outdoor activities for the men. We will also be watching and discussing several very important popular movies on such topics as Christian manhood and being a husband and father. Another topic planned is honesty in the workplace.
The fall schedule includes taking a group of men to attend the Men of God Conference in Sacramento. The dates are September 2-3 and will feature Steve Lawson of Masters Seminary. Please be on the lookout for further details about any of these upcoming events.
GW: What are some of the goals of the ministry, and who are the contact persons for anyone who might be interested?
George: It is our goal as a men’s ministry to provide a means for the men of CGBC to grow in their faith, pursue vital relationships with other men, and become disciple leaders.
