The Peaceful God Made Me Holy

Kenny Kwong

My name is Kenny Kwong. When I came to the US with my family, my grandmother was a Christian, but the rest of my family did not have any particular religious beliefs. However, my parents did pray to my ancestors at certain times of the year to pay their respects. Growing up, I was pretty healthy, but when I was 36 years old, cancer formed in my leg. I had a total of 5 surgeries, 2 of them cancer related, the other 3 related to the radiation treatments that I had. I appreciate that God has safely led me back to my family after each surgery. I also thank God for my wife and children, who took very good care of me during the recovery period.

After I retired from Caltrans, I looked back at my life and realized that I was very blessed by God for all those years that I was severely ill. God not only provided me with safe returns from the surgery table but also provided loving and caring people around me. I felt that God had helped me to get through all these difficult times. In addition, I felt God had provided me with a lifelong, stable, and rewarding career at Caltrans. I was very blessed by God. However, I was an arrogant and unforgiving person.

After attending Sunday church, worshipping God made me realize that I am a sinner. The Bible says God forgives our debts as we also forgive our debtors. God is loving. He sent his only beloved son to die on the cross. Jesus’s blood cleansed my sin and made me holy. John 3:16 states, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

Kenny KwongOn November 4, 2017, in front of Pastor Lim, I decided to become a Christian. I recognize that I am a sinner. I want to become a good Christian and need Jesus to be my savior and forgive my sins. I will faithfully follow the Bible’s teaching, open my heart and accept the Holy Spirit and Jesus as my savior. I will become a better person with more patience, kindness, and forgiveness toward others.

Today, I want to declare to everyone that I am a Christian and recognize that Jesus is the son of God, who came to the world, died and was raised for me, and washed my sins with his blood. I will follow Jesus Christ and obey His teachings all of my life.
