Gracious Words

Born-Again Life

Wai Cheung Sun

I have heard about Jesus Christ since I 孫衛長 Wai Cheung Sunwas young, because I used to live in a chapel. My neighbors were all Christians, but we were not allowed to talk about Him or to worship openly.

All church activities were done secretly. Therefore, I did not have a clear understanding of my faith in God. It was a crazy time back then as my father was persecuted and sentenced to be put to death. My grandmother and mother could only pray for him.

In retrospect, it was the grace of God that pulled us through such a terrible time for my father and family.

I have been in Sacramento for 16 years. Throughout the years, work-related problems kept coming and I often prayed for God’s help. By God’s grace, those problems have been solved one by one.

Today, also by God’s grace, I am baptized at Chinese Grace Bible Church as a born-again man with you as my witnesses.

I give heartfelt thanks to our Father. He chose me to be one of His own. Because of His will and love for me, my sin is washed away by the blood of Jesus Christ, ending the days of darkness, just like when the Israelites were in the wilderness. I belong to Christ from today onwards.

May the Holy Spirit grant me faith, wisdom, and strength to overcome temptations and trials, and walk steadfastly on the path of the cross.

I am very grateful that my wife is also being baptized today. She witnessed my ten-year experience in the Lord, and I really appreciate her for being my lifelong partner who encourages and tolerates me, and also thanks to my family for guiding me on the path to Jesus Christ.

At the same time, thanks to Brother Issac and his family for taking me into this happy family of CG, brother Wing and his family, as well as Uncle Wong for helping me.

In addition, I would like to thank the pastors and Sunday School teachers for teaching the Word of God. I also appreciate all the brothers and sisters for your love and kind words and actions.

All your love have led me to experience much warmth in the church family, and you have helped me to examine my true self, and I was able to let go of any doubt in embracing faith in Christ.

Finally, I want to encourage you with Philippians 3:13-14, “Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”

Let the grace of God shine upon CG.

Thank you all!
